Lush place to be Krabi

Recently came back from Thailand and had a fantastic time.

The people are the best asset the country could have they are so friendly and polite and make the experience more enjoyable.

Went to Bagkok,Kohsamui and Krabi..................all the 3 places had they own uniq defination about them.

Loved Bangkok too best place for shopping and very cheap the city turned out to be brilliant with the colourful cars and buses. So many things to do in bangkok not enough time went for 3 day needed an extra day just to shop. The night market and lady boy show brilliant.

Koh samui nice chilled out place loads of bars and shops but not too much to do apart from the jungle and island trip.

Krabi turned out to be brilliant so much to do its as exactly as you would see in the brochures....... went to see the phi phi islands.

There is also so much choice of food if u are eating out and very cheap too.

Lush place to be Krabi

Thank you. You have just helped me so much. I couldn%26#39;t decide between Krabi and Ko Samui but you have just helped me decide. Where abouts did you stay in Krabi? Or where do you think would be the best place to stay?

Lush place to be Krabi

the best place to stay is here in ao Nang - you can do heaps of trips from here

Hi Catie glad i helped u decide trust me Krabi is much better then Koh Samui .....................

We stayed at the Sheraton Krabi which is about 15-20mins taxi ride from Aonag area and much better and secluded. The taxi ride isnt much if u bargain with the driver before hand n negotiate the price u d be fine we would pay about 300baht which is not a lot in terms of pound.

I personally preferred staying out of Aonag as we had our own private beach and it was beautifull plus sheraton Krabi has it own baby elephant which comes and plays with you at the beach and lots other activities to do there.

Again depends if u like the hussle and bustle then Aonag is the place to be.......

When u do go for trips dont just take it at face value bargain with them and get a good price

i can recommend the Ao Nang Villa Resort which is, of course located, in ao Nang. It is right on the beach. The rooms are good. prices vary from 1800-2600B per night inclusive of nreakfast. Ao Nang is the main area of Krabi that caters for tourists. there are plenty of restaurants, massage places and of course shops (although most shops stock the same fake stuff). plenty of minimarts and internet cafes as well. there are also plenty of tour operators you can choose from to organise day tours to the islands etc. we used Ao Nang Orchid Bungalow Tours. They were great.

As for the Sheraton Krabi, i was very disappointed with this hotel. We had hired a car and done a days driving/sightseeing and we decide to finish off with a swim at their pool. it%26#39;s quite a walk (about 400m) from the rooms/foyer to the pool and beach area. hard work when you have young children with you. it%26#39;s also very isolated, about 20 mins from Ao Nang and taxis cost about 600-800B round trip. during low season it%26#39;s very quiet and not much is happening here, where at least in Ao Nang there is a steady stream of humanity and activities.

Finally the Sheraton is an expensive hotel. We had 2 coffees (lukewarm at best ) and a can of sprite, cost was 500B. i hate to think what your daily meal and snack bill would be. however if money is no object then it won%26#39;t worry you.

So in summing up, if you want seclusion/peace/quiet and don%26#39;t mind paying for it then stay at the sheraton.

if you want value for money, restaurants/shops etc, people about then go to Ao Nang and stay at Ao Nang Villa.

I have to agree we stayed one night at the Sheraton and moved out and spent the rest of our holiday at the Tubkaak. But I would still rather stay in the area of the Sheraton, there are a few decent hotels along that stretch of beach and it is nicer to be away from the Ao Nang and just visit when it suits, it is very easy to get to and no hassle at all but I would not stay at the Sheraton either.

We never had a problem at all at the Sheraton Krabi - its a big resort and the walk to the beach or pool was about 2-3mins and you could also ring the reception to ask them to send one of the golf cars and they take u where u want to go around the resort and the staff there were fantastic. The best time to go there is off peak season its much nicer n the rates we paid at the sheraton were very cheap due to moonsoon season but it didnt rain as much.

We stayed on breakfast basis which was nice plus u get tea coffee etc free in ur room so why pay for it in the resturant??? we ate out most of the time in town n there were little resturants around the resort cheap n chearful. When we went into town we didnt get the hotel taxi but from outside as i said u have to bargain with them .........

Either way where ever u go hope u have a lush time.

Great to read your report, alexis_dee!

Our family will stay at the Sheraton the first two weeks in November and we are really looking forward to our trip. I%26#39;m so glad you liked the hotel.

Did you find any good local restaurants within ';walking'; distance from the hotel?

I%26#39;ve heard there might be restaurants just outside the gates and also maybe one or two restaurants on the beach if you walk a little. Did you visit any of these restaurants?

(I think bkk3 only visited Sheraton on a daytrip, he didn%26#39;t ';stay'; there.)

Would love to get all info you can provide from your stay there.

Thank You in advance,

Christine

My comments about the Sheraton are only our opinion but I knew after just staying one night it was not for us, much too big I just do not want to wait for a buggy to take me to the pool, restaurants etc, it was like staying at a holiday camp ie Butlins in the UK and I was paying top money. The service was really bad and I have experienced so much better in the Far East, everyone to their own but not a good example of a Thai hotel you might as well be staying at Colditz!!!

noodlesetc.......aren%26#39;t you being just a bit precious? to compare the Sheraton with Butlins in the UK ....I%26#39;m speechless.....why wait around for buggies, the beach isn%26#39;t too far, just make your own way....as for the hotel being too big.....I would have thought someone with your standards would have researched the hotel first and made your choice

To be honest, I would prefer to be in Ao Nang, but as you say, that%26#39;s just an opinion

But to anybody who feels like staying at the Sheraton, it really ISN%26#39;T colditz..!!!

thanks

Hi Christine just ignore noodle probably had to many ...............

Yes the hotel has little resturants just outside the gates across the road their is a thai and indian resturant and also other litlle ones just along the right side as u come out of the gates and way away there is another little indian resturant (slow at bringing food but freshly cooked n very cheap and cheerful). We didnt get a chance to walk along the beach for resturants not anough time but the beach is great as its private you just get the whole view and it is paradise.

There is a little massage place outside the resort its in like a little cul du sac they do really good massage the guy who owns the place called Joe. Make sure u bargain the price first we had body massage for about 300baht thats for an hr.

If you want to see the real markets fresh fruits etc then go into Krabi town.

The sheraton even has a live band playing english music every nite at the Coco resturant and you can even request and song an dthey will sing live brilliant to end the evning with .......................

The best thing is the elephant Ra ra comes and plays at the beach everyday for an hr ............

Ignore noodles .it honestly is better then the Ritz the people there are lovely and very polite and service excellent..................
