Koh Samui - weather and sea conditions end of Nov!

Hi, I am going to Koh Samui the last week of Nov and am worried about the sea conditions. Can anyone recommend any particular areas where we will be sheltered from wind and rough seas? Am considering Maenam, Choeng Mon, Coral Cove and Thong Ta Kien. Want somewhere relatively peaceful on the beach but with things to do...was also thinking Bophut but wasnt sure if there is lots of boat traffic? Am I worrying too much about the weather?!?

Advice appreciated...

Koh Samui - weather and sea conditions end of Nov!

We have been twice in november both times the first 2 weeks of november. Its really hit and miss at this time of year. It can either pour down for several hours or just a 20 mins shower each day. One time we went on a boat trip which had to be cancelled at first because the sea was so rough. We went ahead with the trip the following day but just as we went out to sea we got caught in a monsoon! Very choppy, thunder, lightening the lot! It was over within an hour and the rest of the day was lovely sunshine. We stayed each time on chong mon beach- the first time we went we were able to jet ski with ease the following year we found the water was quite choppy and i did not feel very safe jet skiing as there was quite a swell. We did other boat trips during our time in samui and supprisingly the weather was not an issue.

I recommend chongmon as it is very peaceful and not overcrowded - its only a short taxi ride from chaeweng if your looking for somewhere more lively.

Thanks - would you recommend any particular hotels in choengmon? We were thinking of the Sala samui (would love to stay and tongsai but its a bit out of our budget unfortunately). Also, do you know if Ang thon marine park will be open? I have heard it closes for a couple of months in the rainy season and was really looking forward to going there....

Sala Samui is really good hotel.

Angthong marine park is normally closed in this time of the year.

We stayed at the imperial boathouse in Chongmon and would not hesitate to go back although i have heard that Sala Samui is also pretty good. Ang Thong was open when we went in November but i also heard that it may be closed before we went to samui - i wonder if it just closes on bad weather days cos the day we went was lovely sunshine and fairly calm...

They close Angthong Marine Park mainly for ecological reasons.Re-opens around Christmas.
