planning to stay in bangkok for about two weeks in december.

travel agents recommend indra regent,but prices much more than in the travel books.

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel,perhaps in same area,(not sure silom may be better?)

any help much appreciated.

December is peak season, and hardcopy books are often written 18 months ahead of their publication date so they are not very accurate. Try an online booking service like asiarooms.com or sawasdee.com.

In Silom area you can consider Baansaladaeng, The Inn Saladaeng, Rose Hotel (Suriwong Road), or look through the list of hotels on this website (TA).
