Banyon Tree

Friends have advised us (3 adults)to have dinner and drinks at the roof of the Banyon Tree. After looking at their website am not sure I could borrow enuf money to pay the tab. Can anyone give me an idea as to what I could expect to pay for dinner for 3 and drinks. Also, do they post a menu on-line anywhere.

Thx

You%26#39;re paying about $1200 to get there and you%26#39;re concerned about a pricey meal? That seems a bit off.

Go to the hotel RIGHT NEXT DOOR, The Metropolitan. You%26#39;ll have more fun in a much cooler hotel. OR, try Bed Supper Club (bedsupperclub.com) for an out of this world experience.

Happy mealing

Does Metro have a resaurant/bar on the roof?

Hi,

The restaurant you are referring to is the Vertigo Grill %26amp; Moon Bar. It is pricey, so don鈥檛 go for dinner, just go and have a few cocktails and bar snacks then go somewhere a bit more affordable, best of both worlds!

You can experience the view and atmosphere without the price tag! As a guide the cocktails were about 450 baht each (Mai Tai and Long Island Ice Tea).

Your friends are right - it is spectacular and memorable! Be there for sunset and it%26#39;s a whole new appreciation of just big Bangkok city is !

Enjoy

PS SOrry I was referring to restaurant and bar at The Banyan Tree - not the Metro.

If you contact the Banyan Tree they will email you a menu for Vertigo.

Our meal came to around 拢130 for two starters, two mains and 4 G%26amp;T%26#39;s.

Yep, it%26#39;s quite expensive but we thought it was worth the money for the experience.

Onefin,

You could just have drinks at the moon bar , the view IS amazing. However, eating there was hands down one of the most amazing dining experiences I have ever had. Easily the most memorable.

I paid circa $250 for 4 courses and drinks for two. We did choose expensive food, there were cheaper options available.

Also check the weather, a friend of mine booked up for the last night and his meal was rained off! Try and do it early in the trip so you can try again if disappointed.

There are other roof top bars in the city, but this one was the first, and easily the highest.

Enjoy your trip!

Also a must see is the Muay Thai at the Lumpini stadium. Go for the more expensive VIP ringside tickets, easily worth the extra money.

If you%26#39;re dead set on a rooftop setting, try Lebua at State Tower. This place is so badass they use it for Bombay Sapphire ads.

I still say Bed is where you should go for a cool dinner but it%26#39;s not a rooftop bar.

We had dinner at Vertigo last month. It really is a great experience and the views are sublime. Cocktails + dinner for two (no wine) came to an equivalent of about $200 and worth every baht. Get there for about 6:30 for cocktails to get the view as the sun goes down and the city lights appear. A previous response about getting the dinner in early during a trip as it can be closed if rainy is very sound advice. Very good food (try the snowfish), well prepared and served attentively but without pretension. They%26#39;ll even take your photo with the city in the background and give it to you as a memento.

We%26#39;ll be back in Bangkok again in the New Year and I can see that Vertigo will become a standard part of our visits there. We pre-booked Vertigo by e-mail before travelling to Thailand via the hotel website and they e-mailed menus by return.

What is the Banyon Tree like for New Years? I have heard the rooftop restaurant is amazing. what can i expect to pay at this time?

Any other suggestions for ';rooftop'; or amazing view dinners/drinks at this time of year???

Dec-Jan is the best time to visit Bangkok as the weather is milder (compared to other months). Vertigo%26#39;s ambience is memorable but I can%26#39;t that about their food. It%26#39;s just ok for the price you%26#39;re expected to pay which is expensive for Bangkok. Definitely go for a drink at the Moon Bar. It%26#39;s ';cosier'; than the other rooftop restaurant/bar at Le Bua.
