Koh Samui for 3 weeks, Were to go?

Hi,

Myself and my girlfriend are of to Thailand at the end of the month for 3 weeks, staying in Bangkok for 3 nights then heading down to Koh Samui were we have booked the Samui Paradise for 5 Nights.

For the remaining part of the holiday we have a basic idea of just going around the different parts of Samui and venturing across to the nearby islands for a couple of nights each, like the full moon party on the 11th of Nov.

We have not booked anywhere after the samui paradise, Is this a good or bad idea? Should we try to venture further to place like Krabi etc, although i dont want to spend alot of time travelling on buses etc.!Or is Samui enough to see for 3 weeks?

Any advice or suggestions of intinerary%26#39;s would be apprecieted.

Thanks

I don%26#39;t think you will have any problem with finding accomodation at this time of the year.

You can fly to Krabi from Samui if you want to save the time, also you can visit Phi-Phi islands, that side of Thailand might have a better weather in November. If weather is ok on

Samui - you can go to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao for 2-3 days each...

Koh Samui for 3 weeks, Were to go?

There%26#39;s lot to see in Samui. And the island athmophere just kinda gets you after a while and the days just fly by... :)

Chaweng and Lamai are the most touristy beaches of Samui. They also have a lot of shops and restaurants - including Mc Donald%26#39;s, Pizza Hut etc... Venture a bit further and you start to find some decent thai food. :)

I haven%26#39;t visited the Big Buddha beach but as the name tells you there%26#39;s a big golden buddha statue there.

Bophut beach and it%26#39;s fishermans village is absolutely adorable, worth at least a day%26#39;s visit. Not much nightlife there, but there are lots of lovely restaurants on the beach.

Maenam beach is also a bit more relaxed and quiet place, plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to go with though.

A really great place to visit is the island%26#39;s capital Nathon. it%26#39;s a lovely little %26#39;town%26#39; - really small. Plenty of shopping and great restaurants - try Will Waits %26#39;no names%26#39; - soooooooo good. :)

Around there%26#39;s the marine park (I don%26#39;t remember the name, ang thong or something), take a day trip there (all resorts can organize trips). It takes you to see some really beautiful islands.

Koh Phangnan is quite nearby, maybe about an hour by boat. It%26#39;s a bit more rustic than Samui, altough I believe it gets more and more developed all the time. A very relaxed island.

koh Tao is mainly a diving resort, so unless you dive there%26#39;s little point in going there. I spent 3 day%26#39;s at the capital while my fiance did his PADI course and it wasn%26#39;t exactly thrilling... :) The %26#39;town%26#39; is almost empty at daytime since everyone%26#39;s out diving. And when they come back - they talk about diving.

About transport on Samui, use taxi%26#39;s (haggle!!!) or the sawngthaew, the local transport. It%26#39;s an extremely pleasant and efficient way of transport. They do like to charge farangs extra, and on our last visit we noticed that they had obviously made some kind of pact on how much to charge from tourists since thay asked the same price uniformly and got extremely pissed off if we demanded to pay the local price. So we caved and started to pay the farang price...

Well, hope this helps, have a nice trip! :)
