We visited the Blooming Spa - lets relax whilst in Chiang Mai this past January. Prices very reasonable, service very professional and close to the night bazaar.

What do you mean by affordable ?

Imho a Spa is like Champagne or caviar: a luxury and has to come with nice surroundings (gardens), private bungalows, great service and staff. It shouldn%26#39;t be a regular apartment room smelling of jasmine with green painting on the walls and a bathtube in a corner... A lot of so-called Spa open in Chiang Mai.

For 100 euro you can have a real spa experience at the Oasis Spa (3 or 4 branches in town... the one in Wat Prasingh is great).

Made an appt with the Oasis Spa %26amp; picked up by the luxury van from our hotel. We do spa treatments here in Tokyo on a regular basis %26amp; I will have to say that this was the nicest one I have ever been to. The outdoor bathroom was set amidst the garden. Very posh. Booked the 2 1/2 hr tx for less than $100 incl tips %26amp; was very well taken cared of. Dropped of to our hotel at the end of the evening.

Unfortunately, the neck kink I came in with was still there the next morning. Did I enjoy the experience? You bet ! Did I return there for more treatments. No ! The next day, I walked 1 minute down the street from the Empress %26amp; had a $12 massage in a treatment area separated by curtains, only one more client was at the other end of the room. This therapist managed to get the kink out of my neck. Returned to see her once more before we left.

I do have a different take on massage though since I%26#39;m a Physical Therapist myself. : D

My family all did the Oasis Spa there. They pick up and drop off. My dh did the King of Oasis because there was a promotion online for a free facial. So he had 3 hours of fun! My kids and I all did the one hour hot oil. They picked us up later. Great after the Patara Elephant Farm. My dh wants to go back.
