Best / cheapest web site to book Thai Hotels

Elissa,

No one site beats all comers. Use some of these to hunt down the best price;

www.asiarooms.com

www.sawasdee.com

www.agoda.com (go right through the process up to the ';enter credit card details'; to see the actual final cost in $US and then convert to aussie$ using;

http://www.oanda.com/convert/classic )

www.wotif.com

www.chiangmai-online.com

...and of course, google the hotel you prefer%26#39;s own website and see what they offer as well.

I%26#39;ve used all of the above many many times without a hitch.

I too have used Sawasdee and Asia Rooms with no problems. I read recently that someone found Asia Web Direct had the best price for a hotel they wanted so that gives you another to check out. Contact the hotel(s) and ask for a price for the type of room you want - they often give a much better rate than what is quoted on the web site.

There are plenty, i go with sawadee or their partners, you don%26#39;t need credit card details to enquite and only needed once they confirm rooms, they give you a few days to decide, then 1 night deposit, balance 2 weeks before, others though seem to want a credit vcard simply to enquite and/or want full payment immediately.

Hence i use

http://www.beachsiam.com, if you are from Australia also try http://www.asiaoz.com/thailand_hotels.html and you can see the Sawadee rates, also Hotelclub ( Australia ) rates, plus hotels2thailand and their last minute ratestogo, all on the same page, for Khao Lak in particular:

If you want to read some Khao lak reviews:

Hi. I normally book through the websites that others in this thread have suggested. However, this time, I emailed a couple of hotels directly and asked them for their best quote for next year. Both returned with rates that beat the all the others by a big margin! Can I suggest that you do this before you make your final decision - you may be pleasantly surprised.

Good Luck!

It would be interesting to know which hotels these were and any other experience of hotels beating online mass booking agents as this has not normally been the case. Perhaps more resorts are now becoming more competitive with their own prices.

We have also received good rates on the odd occasion from the Hotel direct but be warned that they usually don%26#39;t quote the 17% tax that is added to your original quotes and that can be quite a sting if you are not expecting it. Just get their final price and make sure that it includes breakfast as that is expensive at the Hotels and is mostly included in asiarooms and sawadee web sites.

Bookings for our trip next week, the great reductions hotel rate quoted on the internet didn%26#39;t include breakfast or the tax and asiarooms was much cheaper.

Also like hoteltravel.com but they quote in US dollars which is a problem for us at the moment with the poor exchange rate but they only take the payment just prior to your arrival.

Hi there!

Not sure if you already booked your stay for your November trip, but here are the websites I check before making a final decision.

www.directrooms.com

www.asiarooms.com

www.hotelthailand.com

www.booking.com

Like some of the other people who replied to this thread, it doesn%26#39;t hurt to check out the hotel%26#39;s website directly for pricing. Also, not sure if you%26#39;re staying in one part of the kingdom or venturing to several parts. Last November, I booked my Chiang Mai and Phuket stays using Air Asia packages. It came out cheaper for me to buy an air/hotel package thru them then ala carte.

The sooner you put in for your requests for a particular hotel, the better since November is the start of the high travel season. :) Good luck!

In respect to my experience with hotels quoting cheaper than wholesalers, it has occurred in many places, but does not apply to Khao Lak. None of the hotels I tried to contact sent replies (apparently closed for the summer). As we are visiting in high season I wanted to get a booking made so used an online wholesaler.

hi,

my suggestion, particularly for people from Europe, is to check out couple of German travel websites. This is what I did last year, when I wanted to make reservation for January/February 2008. The rates I found there were much better than asiaroom, sawadee or directrooms, etc. You just need to search for ';eigene Anreise'; (one%26#39;s own transport) or ';Hotels';, which means that you book only accommodation. You can try:

or

or couple of others.

Best regards, Bartek
