Advice needed re lost passport!!!

Hi Guys,

my nephew is in Munich and has lost his passport!!! and all other id...(didn%26#39;t listen to all our advice on how to guard it with your life).

He is flying home on Thursday and I was hoping someone out there has an idea of what to do as I have surfed the net and besides going to the nearest consulate or reporting it stolen online it doesn%26#39;t really offer much info.

Any thoughts appreciated

Advice needed re lost passport!!!

The Aussie Embassy/consulate should be able to provide a temporary travel document. Report the loss to the local police also.

Advice needed re lost passport!!!

Report loss to police and go to embassy/consulate to report loss.

Embassy/Consulate will issue emergency passport.

Good advice from the above posters. We always scan our documents, tickets, passport and drivers licence etc and email them to our yahoo/hotmail accounts.

That way you always have some info/proof etc to help obtain emergency replacements.

If your nephew is in Munich, why do you ask on the BKK forum?

Your nephew will not be allowed to leave the country without a document i.e. he has to go to the police and to the nearest consulate. Don%26#39;t know if there is one in Munich.

Someone may even have found the passport and handed it to the police who would usually return it to the nearest consulate.

Good luck.

The closest Australian representation to Munich is the embassy in Berlin: Wallstrasse 76-79, 10179 Berlin.

Call them urgently at 030-880088-0

Thanks for all the advice guys...

The reason why I asked in the Bangkok forum is because it doesn%26#39;t really matter what country you are in the advice is usually the same but with a different address to go to. Since Thailand TA%26#39;s are so helpful and knowledgeable I thought I would ask the regulars!!!!

As it was my nephew texted his mother in the middle of the night and she was in a state of panic and had a sleepless night. Luckily she had the forsight to scan his passport before he left.

Mind you if he had of listened to our advice before he went about safeguarding his passport it probably would never of happened!!! (he had also lost his credit card twice!!!)

He is in the process of getting an emergency passport now.

Thanks agian for your help

You should tell him that if he loses his passport again he will be put on a watch list.

The govt may think that he is ';losing'; his passports on purpose and getting a new one will be more difficult.

Hopefully he will learn to listen when someone who has travelled before tries to give him some important advice.....

I think that when he adds up all the ';extra'; costs of having 2 credit cards sent to him, a replacement passport, replacing his licence etc which were in his wallet plus when he gets his phone and credit card bill (with all its hidden extras) he may be willing to listen a bit more closely next time.....anyway heres hoping....

Good to hear the problem gets sorted out.

Reason why I suggested to go on the Munich forum was because rules which may apply in Thailand may not apply in Germany. Also German police is easier to deal with than Thai police.

Hope your nephew had a great time at the Octoberfest.

Be assured that his passport etc. was not the only one which got lost.
