Hi, I wonder if anyone can help...
Ma and my boyfriend are starting our travels in Bangkok, staying there between 04.01.09 and 10.01.09 and then moving onto Kanchanaburi for a few days.
The hotel we are looking at staying, Pung Waan Resort offers the option to collect us from Bangkok. However, we could make our own way there by taxi or train. Anyone know which would be the best option?
How far is the hotel from the train station??
After spending a couple of days in Kanchanaburi, we need to get to ko Samui, best to go back to Bangkok and fly from there??
Thanks in advance for your help...
Kate
Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, then onto Ko Samui...
I%26#39;m not sure of the exact location of your hotel in Kanchanaburi but the area is well served by trains, buses and minivans from Bangkok. Nevertheless, you may find the hotel%26#39;s taxi service is more or less the same price as well as door-to-door. You don%26#39;t really have to decide until you have checked your options once you arrived in Bangkok. The hotel probably only need a few days notice to lay on transport.
As for going on to Koh Samui, yes you should return to Bangkok first. The only airline (Bangkok Airways) have several flights a day from Suvanabumhi Airport, but the 6 am and 9 pm are usually the cheapest for what is after all an expensive short flight by Asian standards. They have a website where you can book in advance by credit card. The alternatives are going there by road and then ferry from either Chumpon or Donsak in Surat Thani Province. The night boat from Surat Thani town itself should also be running at that time of year.
Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, then onto Ko Samui...
Excellent, many thanks. We will probably wait until we asrrive at the D MA Ramada Bangkok before booking the taxi then.
We found that Thai Airways offered a slightly cheaper rate Bangkok-Ko Samui, but can always rely on Bangkok Airways should this option fail.
Once again, many thanks for your advice.
Kind Regards, Kate
