i enqired about dental work in pattaya, i contacted a few dental websites, in pattaya, and also in bangkok, i have picked who i will go with, and have had a lot of e mails from then , then out of the blue i get a e mail from this dental hospital in bangkok,

please read and let me know if this is true?

Dear Mr. Gilmour, Nice to hearing from you. We are one of the biggest dental clinics in Thailand, as we have 3 dental clinics in Bangkok and 1 dental clinic in Phuket. Anyway, we don%26#39;t have the dental clinic in Pattaya, as we found that the serious blood infection disease, such as HIVs and Hep B, is quite difficult to be controlled in Pattaya. Regards, Dr. Sermsakul Wongtiraporn

...which shows how incredibly inadequately trained the medical industry in Thailand is. not just dentistry but this kind of ignorance permeates the Thai medical industry.

please bear this in mid before opting for ';medical tourism'; here.

If something goes wrong, you are on your own....and when a ';trained'; professional is capable of making a remark like that, how can they possibly be up to dealing with any dental/medical problems?

Pattaya is not the place to have medical/dental work done. Stick with major hospitals in Bangkok and you will be fine. Medical treatment in large private hospitals is better than anything offered in the UK.

it is quite possible to get good medical treatment outside bkk - a few years ago i was hospitalised after an accident, and in a private hospital in chonburi had wonderful treatment. the Bangkok Pattaya hospital in patttaya had a good reputation, and the smaller Memorial hospital has treated a number of friends such that they were happy to return there.

all you have here is an unsubtle attempt to belittle competitiors and drum up a bit of extra trade.

Both my wife and i have had dental work done in Pattaya,no problem at all. i had all my old filling%26#39;s removed and white one%26#39;s to replace them. i then had them lasered. my wife had a new bridge, again an old one taken out and a new one to replace it. we found this treatment more hygenic in this country than the u.k. give me the thai dentist any time..

thanks, for all your info, i could not belive the email that a dental pratice would come out with a statment like this, to sir lord could you give me the name of the dentist that you and your good lady went, to, thanks again scafftag

Beware - whereas you will in all probability get reasonable treatment at a reasonable cost in Thailand the health system here can in no way compare to the systems in many of the developed countries most visitors come from.

If you go to a private hospital, don%26#39;t be taken in by the fact they have leather seas and fish-tanks in the waiting rooms or that you don%26#39;t have to wait very long....this is all very superficial.

When it comes to patient care, advice and dealing with any problems the whole thing could come crashing down around you.

i have had a life-long connection with health services and had both personal and proxy experience of private health care in Thailand, I there is no way I would leave myself in the hands of the Thai medical profession in a case of serious illness of any kind.

The stories I%26#39;ve heard from friends – thai and foreign - who work in Thai hospitals are frightening - of the attitude of Doctors, behaviour that is way outside that prescribed by the Hippocratic oath...ignoring signs avoiding confrontation, passing patients on because insurance didn%26#39;t cover their hospital etc etc.

please don%26#39;t be drawn in by the decor...and all those women you see marching around in crisp white uniform....they aren%26#39;t nurses....SRN SEN what have you - they%26#39;re just clerks dressed to look like something medical...it%26#39;s all face and no substance.

Shocking to say the least - I%26#39;d definitely cross this practice off your list. They just insulted some very fine dentists/doctors in the Pattaya/Chonburi area.
