Marriot resort location.

Hi guys,

I%26#39;m thinking of using this hotel for about 3 or 4 nights at the start of a family holiday. I know that they run a shuttle boat (does it run at night) to get you to the sky train but my question is how accessable is the hotel from the centre of town by taxi. Some Members of our group aren%26#39;t too keen on using the boat.

Thanks in advance.

Safe travels,

Steve.

We loved the boat and it gives you a brief respite from all that is so frantic about Bangkok. Not sure how late the boat runs but taxis%26#39;s are cheap so if all sharing a taxi probably as cheap as the sky train back to Saphan Taksin then the boat.

There are quite a number of restaurants located in the Mall that is behind the Marriott so that is worth considering as well.

Marriott Resort is a beautiful Resort, has one of the best breakfasts we have experienced in Bangkok and a lovely place to stay. If you are full on with the action things perhaps you might want to stay right in the centre of Bangkok but we found the Marriott to be an oasis after the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

Thanks for your help Barkem, it does get great reviews so we%26#39;ll probably give it a go.

Hi Steve:

We%26#39;ve stayed at this Marriott resort a few times. It%26#39;s one of my favorite places in Bangkok as it is removed from the ';hustle'; of the city life in Bangkok but has pretty decent access to the city. When I was there last time (July 2008) I recall the boat was running until 11 p.m.and ran every 15 minutes. It drops you right at the skytrain stop so it is quick to get to the city from the sky train but it does take about 10 minutes on the boat to get to the skytrain stop.

Taxi%26#39;s are very plentiful at the Marriott and the doorman will just obtain the taxi for you. There isn%26#39;t generally a wait for a taxi.

Staying at the Marriott however, doesn%26#39;t provide that ';immediate'; access to downtown. Like the above post, we also frequented the little restaurants and massage places acorss the street from the Marriott (they are connected by a walking ramp from the Marriott).

If you stay at the Marriott, it is worth paying for an upgrade to a club level room, if it%26#39;s in your budget. The free wine and drinks of all kinds, brands etc., along with all the dinner appetizers makes it well worth while.

Have a great trip.
