As said if you want the full on stuff then Chaweng is definetly the place to stay/visit.

Lamai has a good nightlife, a little less hectic than Chaweng but more than enough to keep you interested.

The other spots on the island are a little more laid back,less hectic.

Green mango, Sweet Soul, Raggae Pub, Escape party, Wednesday nights Ark bar, Solo to start at around 09.00 pm, Sound to end in the morning.

Is it true that the bars and clubs all close at 2am?

yes bars are meant to close at 2am but i have been drinking in some bars on samui till around 3am

there is even a kareoke bar in lamai that i came out at around 4am.its not a bar as such but they have private rooms inside with your own kareoke machine and you can order drinks with the phone thats in the room.great place if you want to continue the party and theres a group of you.

Escape/Black Moon parties on Chawng lake start around 2 am and continue till the morning.
