CM local experts - please help with locations

Hi. I will be visiting CM next month for Loy Krathong festival and in the process of booking hotels. I saw this hotel which looks real beautiful(at least on the website), called The granary resort, and booked it tentatively. However, I am worried about it%26#39;s location - that it might be too far from anything?

To local experts %26amp; people who knows areas of CM,

I am not really sure which area this is, but from the hotel%26#39;s map it looks to be near that superhighway %26amp; north of CM city %26amp; by the river in San Phi sua area.

Anyone familiar with this area? Is this a good place to stay? - I don%26#39;t mind being little out of city but as long ss it%26#39;s a nice safe area and easy to get to town and all when i want. Please advise since i can not find any info. other than hotel%26#39;s at the moment... Plus I am new to CM, so have no idea when it comes to distance :)

Thanks a lot in advance! Look forward to being there!

That resort is farther than the 2nd ring road, that%26#39;s pretty far from the city. The area is not especially beautiful, it%26#39;s flat land, residential, lot of traffic. Transportation will be time and money consuming.

My opinion is either you come to Chiang Mai to take advantage of the city so you better stay close to the old town, or you%26#39;re looking for a nice resort and don%26#39;t plan to spend much time inside the city then it%26#39;s better to find a resort in the mountain (Samoeng area) or Mae Rim/Chiang Dao.

If you want to see and enjoy Loi Kratong festival , you should stay close the the place that you can walk around until midnight and no worry about the transportation back to hotel.

I think Rimping Village , Tea Vana , Shewe Wana , Yangcome Village , Shangri-La and many hotels in Night Bazarr are very convinent for walking around Nowarat Bridge and along Ping river which is the main place for the event.

Welcome to Chiangmai . You will love Loi Kratong Festival .

Thank you very much, guys! It%26#39;s been so helpful to hear your opinions:)

That%26#39;s exactly what I was curious about %26amp; I think that it%26#39;s much better to stay near to the action to enjoy CM %26amp; Loy Krathong.

All the best to you!
