Schools in Chiang Mai for TEFL Certificate

Hi! My sister is planning to move to Thailand this winter and wants to enroll in a school in Chiang Mai to acquire a TEFL certificate. She has run across a few scams on line. Can anyone recommend a valid school she can contact? She is currently in touch with SEE (Siam Education) but cannot get any verification. Any help much appreicated

Text and Talk have a TEFL course in Chiang Mai. They are a reputable school and are very helpful in securing a visa for you. The British Council have a CELTA course there as well. and the Uni of Chiang Mai has a TEFL course also.

Does your sister have a university degree? Teaching in Thailand is not what it once was. Do you know that foreign teachers now need to undergo a culture and language test - at their own expense - before they can can teach in a Thai school? Many countries require a degree now before you can teach. Has your sister ever taught before? If the answer to these questions is ';No';, I would think twice before considering this step.
