Is it easy to book hotels upon arrival and just walking through? Is this recommended?

booking hotels on arrival-Bangkok and Phuket
I have always found it easy to find budget accommodation without pre-booking but if you want mid-range or more luxurious accommodation you may be better of booking in advance. I would say it will depend on the time of year you will be going as well. If low season you shouldn%26#39;t have a problem.
If you do decide to book before you go take a look at asiarooms.com they usually have cheaper rates than the walk in rates.
Hope that helps.

The taxi mafia at Phuket will be more than happy to rip you off.
Thanks so much for the reply and website.
We will actually be coming from Bangkok. Is it recommended to spend equal, less amount of time in Bangkok/Phuket? Or is it a better bet to bus to a closer island from Bangkok such as Pattaya?
